About the Event
About the Artist: One of the world's greatest flatpick guitarists, influenced by Clarence White, Tony Rice and Doc Watson, and winner of three International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA) Guitar Player of the Year awards, David Grier has released a number of acclaimed albums on Rounder Records and his own Dreadnought Recordings label. He plays in a variety of styles (bluegrass, country, bebop, classical, traditional jazz, funk, and more), refusing to be confined to any one musical genre. He was recognized in 2000 by Acoustic Guitar magazine as one of the ten most influential artists of the decade. All Music Guide says: "Grier is a complicated soloist, never satisfied to complete speedy runs to gain attention; instead, he varies his solos with chords, unique phrasings, and straight-out picking." Not to be missed.
