About the Event

Traditional Irish Solo Set Pieces date back to the 18th century and can be danced either in a flat sliding style, or on the balls or front of the feet. They are usually fully-formed dances with specific steps done to a specific tune. The body stance is a bit more relaxed than with modern step dancing but not as loose a posture as sean nós dance.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR: Kelly Smit has been teaching and performing Irish dance for over 15 years. She has learned from, performed with, and shared steps with dancers across the US and Ireland. She can often be found dancing up a storm at trad music sessions around Baltimore.
