About the Event

Join us for the opening of Jack's exhibit on Saturday, May 25th from 5-7pm, and immerse yourself in an evening of art, creativity, and community!

From the Artist:

"I strive to make my artfulness entertaining with reason to linger for more than a passing glance.  There are details and juxtapositions.  What you will see in this exhibition is a collection of what, I say, is assemblage. It is all assemblage; I am an “assemblegist” these days when I practice my artfulness.  I have been a teacher and photographer, both artful outlets over the years.  My medium is using what I have. I am a practitioner of using what I have, what is left over, and what is in the box of materials.  I use scraps of wood that could easily be put in a fire, scraps of paper that usually would go into the rubbish, and metal that generally goes into recycling.  Wooden objects and metal men are all products of craft using remnants.  Some pieces use brass fasteners and tetra-pak interiors. This exhibition is composed of florals, metals, spirals, verbals, auras, et al.

Jack Trimper Baker Artist Portfolio

In his professional and artistic journey, Jack has dedicated himself to nurturing self-expression within classrooms across various educational settings, spanning from public schools to private institutions, and even extending to the streets of West Baltimore. Facilitating opportunities for groups of young individuals to express themselves through words and imagery has been a consistent thread woven throughout his career.

Since retiring from formal classroom settings, Jack's focus has shifted towards his own creative expression, exploring mediums such as 2-D and 3-D assemblage, as well as poetry. Currently residing in SW Baltimore County, he continues to conceptualize, experiment, and present his artistic endeavors. Despite entering septuagenarianhood, he finds himself still deeply engaged in the creation of images that captivate and delight.

His collection of artwork often incorporates materials gathered over the years, with elements such as metal men dating back to 1988 and painted papers and aura reflectives produced in collaboration with students from the 1980s HollMark Artists’ Cooperative at Hollins Street School. He expresses a profound satisfaction in the practice of utilizing available resources, as it enhances his sense of creative enjoyment.

For those interested in exploring more of his work or learning more about his artistic journey, Jack invites you to visit his Baker Artist Profile for a deeper dive into his portfolio and background.
