About the Event
This two-hour workshop engages participants in the basic elements of creating collage art (cutting, pasting, (re)arranging and simple sculpting) with materials such as paper, magazines, tissue, paint and recyclables. The class is designed specifically to meet the needs and interests of neurodivergent learners, including individuals age 10 and up identified with special needs, individuals challenged by traditional methods of art instruction or anyone needing individualized accommodations to participate in an artistic experience. The goal is to facilitate a creative form of self-expression using materials and artistic processes that encourage participants to create multi-media representation of who they are. Collage is a "safe" way for people new or inexperienced with art because it can accommodate various levels of artistic ability and skill. Parents, aides, and other support people are encouraged to stay during the workshop to assist the registered participant with the option to participate at no extra cost.
