Join us at the Catonsville Clubhouse for an evening of great jazz.
Performing on stage will be Double Scotch, featuring Tom Mitchell (guitar), Kevin Wimmer (violin), Robert Redd (piano), and Tommy Cecil (bass).
Tom Mitchell is a guitar player and singer rooted in the styles of the 1920s and 30s jazz, western swing, country blues, and old-time music. He’s happily been both sideman and leader for a great variety of musical endeavors.
Kevin Wimmer is one of Louisiana’s foremost Cajun-style fiddlers.
Originally from New York City, he started his music studies at the age of four with his mother, a violinist and teacher at The Julliard School in New York.
Pianist Robert Redd is a current member of The Duke Ellington Orchestra and performs throughout the U.S. and abroad. He leads The Wolf Trap Jazz Trio, performs with the Smithsonian Jazz Masterworks Orchestra, and works frequently as a member of the Charlie Byrd Trio. He is also a member of the Brooks Tegler Trio, which performs every Sunday evening at The Irish Inn in Glen Echo, Md.
Jazz bassist and Baltimore native Tommy Cecil is one of the most in-demand players in the area. He has had long associations with many of D.C.’s jazz favorite sons, including John Eaton, Buck Hill, Charlie Byrd, Dick Morgan, Shirley Horn, Brooks Tegler, and the Redd Brothers, and out-of-town artists such as Mose Allison, Tommy Flanagan, Joe Henderson. His recordings have garnered excellent reviews and highlight his composing talent.
This is a night you don't want to miss.
