Creative Practice Open Studio sessions are designed to help individuals take advantage of a nurturing and inspirational environment for creative exploration in a community atmosphere. In order to receive the physiological brain benefits of creative practice, it is important to maintain a regular and consistent studio schedule.

Stuck on where to start? Our mentors can help you springboard into creative exploration!

Guided open studio sessions provide accountability and guidance by a studio artist mentor. The role of the artist mentor is to encourage learning and help you to identify and develop ideas and direction; individualized to one's interest, skillset, learning pace, and curiosity.

Feel free to bring in samples of your work each week for review, critique, feedback and suggestions to address problem areas or challenges you are facing.

Open studio sessions are one of our favorite ways to engage with and get to know the Root community!

mediums: acrylic, oil, pastel, watercolor, charcoal, pencil and mixed media/collage

subject matter: abstract, still life, figure, landscape

Some experience required. Beginners are encouraged to take the “Creative Practice Basics” workshop prior to signing up for an open studio session.

(this workshop is offered for student age groups, see our other listings)

Supplies: *due to COVID 19; no supplies will be shared, you must bring your own (or purchase a starter supply kit upon arrival)
