Clubhouse of Catonsville, 10 St Timothys Ln, Catonsville, MD 21228, USA

About the Event

About the Event: Recent studies indicate that a strong community news presence fosters civic engagement, knowledge and actually decreases the spread of disinformation. Yet in the past two decades, thousands of newspapers have closed or significantly cut back on coverage. So, how do we fill the deficit created by the expanding news desert within our own community?

Join The Catonsville Women’s Giving Circle for a conversation about community news. Jacqueline Scott, professor of English and Mass Media will facilitate a discussion on ways that we can create and sustain the pathways of community news in Catonsville and our surrounding area.

7-9 PM, Tuesday, April 26 Catonsville Women’s Clubhouse 10 St Timothy’s Lane

This event is free and open to the public

DONATIONS ACCEPTED: As has been our custom, we want to use this event to support a grantee organization. We are collecting diapers, wipes and onesies for Refugee Information Services and Empowerment (RISE).

About the Venue: The Clubhouse is a 100-seat, intimate performace space located in the heart of the Catonsville Arts District. Recently acquired, it is owned and operated by the Baltimore County Arts Guild and serves as a center of the arts in Baltimore County. Additional classrooms provide space for classes and workshops. The Clubhouse is also available for private rentals for events.
