About the Event
Full Throttle: Unstoppable
Animals, abstracts, and one human. Maxine Bickerstaff started her journey into art hesitantly but quickly went full throttle: embracing art obsessively. Self-taught except for a weekly class, art has become an all-consuming passion, a daily obsession, claiming every available moment and demanding expression with urgency and passion. Art has even occupied her dreams, with full instructions on what and how to paint.
In 20 months, Bickerstaff has created over 150 artworks: acrylic art on canvas, collages, watercolors, and pours. Maxine’s style is dynamic and vibrant; often characterized by dramatic compositions: stark backgrounds juxtaposed with intense, soulful, or whimsical poses and stares. All of Maxine’s paintings are a vehicle for expressing pure feeling that comes from that spiritual place that exists within us all.
Special acknowledgment is given to Mark Selby of Staub Art Studio for his insightful and constructive guidance.
