Alice Gail Dvoskin has been actively exhibiting her oil paintings for twenty-seven years. While some of her paintings are plein air, much of her work has been painted in the studio from sketches and photographs created during her wanderings. Her work captures the unique landscapes, people and architecture of nearby and distant locales with an emphasis on the interplay of color and light.

Artist Statement: "I’ve been drawing and painting since age twelve. Throughout my thirty-two-year Psychology practice, I continued painting as often as possible. Now, retired, I have the opportunity to fully pursue my passion for art. To me, the challenge of the two-dimensional canvas is to create a fourth dimension, that of movement. To accomplish this, I take advantage of the plasticity of oil paint, bold brush strokes, and strong color. The vivid areas of color and form fighting with each other to hold the picture plane create tension and, thus, movement."

About the Venue: The Clubhouse is a 100-seat, intimate performance space located in the heart of the Catonsville Arts District. Recently acquired, it is owned and operated by the Baltimore County Arts Guild and serves as a center of the arts in Baltimore County. Additional classrooms provide space for classes and workshops.

This program is made possible in part by the Citzens of Baltimore County, the Catonsville Arts District, Baltimore County Arts Guild, and the Maryland State Arts Council
