A sweet tradition to share.
Sugar skulls are part of an important tradition of Mexico. “DIA DE MUERTOS” is a holiday traditionally celebrated from October 31st through November 2nd.
In this workshop the participants will learn about the holiday and the meaning of the main elements of an “ofrenda” (altar), such as calaveritas (sugar skulls). Participants will also receive a kit to decorate their own sugar skulls.
Instructor: Alejandra Martinez
Materials: Provided by Instructor and include
- One medium, flat sugar skull
- One large full sugar skull (pre-made)
- Royal icing (variety of colors)
- Sequins, aluminum paper and other decorations
- Paper plates
Workshop fee: $5.00 per person

About the Venue: The Gallery 1101 is a studio space located about the Shore United Bank at the corner of Maiden Choice Lane and Highview Ave. It is operated by the Baltimore County Arts Guild and holds 13 low cost artists' studio spaces. Additional classrooms provide space for classes and workshops
